Ethical Clothing Australia will be at DESIGN: MADE: TRADE 21 - 24 July at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, Melbourne

Accreditation for Clothing and Footwear Brands

Previously the Ethical Clothing Australia accreditation process was linked to The Clothing Trades Award and only clothing manufacturers were eligible for accreditation. Now, Ethical Clothing Australia's accreditation system reflects the new Federal Award covering the Textile, Clothing, Footwear and Associated Industries which has been effective since 1 January 2010. This means manufacturers of clothing and footwear products can apply for accreditation to become licensed to display the Ethical Clothing Australia and Ethical Footwear Australia trademarks on their Australian-made goods.

Ethical Clothing Australia's documentation defines "Products" as the whole or part of any male or female (including children's) garment or any article of wearing apparel. This definition enables Ethical Clothing Australia to accredit all clothing manufacturers and footwear manufacturers producing (in Australia) materials for wearing apparel.

Currently Ethical Clothing Australia are unable to accredit textile manufacturers as they are not covered under our Code of Practice. We are however reviewing our Code of Practice in 2012 to enable us to accredit textile manufacturers. If you require further information then please call our head office on 03 9419 0222 or contact us at info@ethicalclothingaustralia.org.au.
