The Ethical Clothing Australia trademark

When you see the Ethical Clothing Australia trademark on a product, it means it was made in Australia and everyone involved in its production received, as a minimum, the legal rates of pay and conditions. The Ethical Clothing Australia trademark is usually displayed on or alongside the care and wash instructions tag on the inside of a garment, but can also be displayed more prominently along with the accredited business’ own branding and on swing tagsor packaging. When used at small sizes, the trademark is often displayed without the text.

Ethical Textiles Australia and Ethical Footwear Australia

Accredited Textile and Footwear businesses can also be licensed to use the Ethical Textiles Australia and Ethical Footwear Australia variations of the trademark. Please note that for such products, as with clothing products, the accreditation process only covers labour performed on creating the product in Australia.

Retail Signatories

Retailers can also participate in efforts to encourage transparency in the Australian textile, clothing and footwear industry by becoming retail signatories to the National Retailers Ethical Clothing Code which is administered by Ethical Clothing Australia, the Australian Retailers Association and the Textile, Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia.

You may see the Ethical Clothing Australia trademark displayed in some retail outlets. This means the business is a retail signatory and that products carrying the Ethical Clothing Australia trademark are available in the shop for purchase. It is not a blanket endorsement of the retailer or all of the products available in store.
