The faces behind the production of Australian fashion were revealed to savvy shoppers when Ethical Clothing Australia launched its first consumer awareness campaign in October. The campaign was officially launched by Chris Evans, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations and the Ginger and Smart boutique in Paddington, Sydney.

Ethical Clothing Australia is calling on the TCF industry to take part in a survey to assess the feasibility of establishing a new Ethical Quality Mark for the Australian TCF industry. We would welcome your input by completing the survey, which should take 15 to 20 minutes to complete. The survey will remain open until Friday April 22.

The family business, established in 1985, continues to build on its vast experience of high-volume manufacturing and has the capacity to produce 6500 garments a week all under the one roof in Thomastown. Lisa Ho and Ginger Smart, the two fashion brands whose runway shows will open proceedings at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, have successfully completed the accreditation process that allows brands to display the Ethical Clothing Australia label on their Australian-made garments. They join a growing list of leading Australian fashion brands, such as Collette Dinnigan, Jets, Cue and Veronika Maine, who are eligible to display the Ethical Clothing Australia label on their Australian-made garments. Ethical Clothing Australia is set to make its debut at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAFW) in Sydney next month amidst predictions that the trend towards ethical fashion is here to stay.

Ethical Clothing Australia’s national coordinator, Emer Diviney, said the presence at Fashion Week would help establish the organisation’s profile within the industry and highlight the valuable role it can play in assisting local fashion brands to tap into the ever growing market for ethical and sustainable goods.
